This was another very hot and dry week for all areas in this region. Corn had a tough week with 100+ temperatures and extremely warm nights. The cooling pattern over the weekend helped but most areas are in big need of rain very soon. Most of the corn crop is in R1 and moving into R2 and is in the critical time of development. I’ve had some reports of silk clipping on fields, so continue to keep an eye out for insects. Soybeans have handled last week’s weather better than corn and are beginning to bloom in some areas. Rain would sure help the soybeans now.
When I sit down to write articles for our blog, I feel like I'm sitting down with my family at the dinner table, ready to talk about news from the field while we enjoy one of our favorite recipes. Whether you're looking for information to help you in the field, are interested in trying a farm family's favorite recipe or simply want to see what others are doing to help feed and fuel the world, we cover it here at The Field Position! Thanks for visiting us today and we hope to hear from you again soon!
