Nick Coleman delivers another update on crop progress in Central Iowa. Tune into the video for today’s full report.

Farmers in Central Iowa started planting last weekend. Soil temperatures in the early part of the week were right at the 60 degree mark. The soils were fit for planting, but what most farmers were wrestling with how much to plant with a cold, wet forecast looming.
You must weigh the effect of cold water around the seed against the date on the calendar. I have spoken with farmers who haven’t started, as well as farmers who are 70% done with corn.
The remainder of the week appears to be cold and wet with the chance of seeing snow. I would assume we won’t start planting again until next week when it dries out and warms up.
