Thanks to good ol’ Mother Nature, planting has been at a standstill. Anywhere from 2 to 2 ½ inches of rain fell over the weekend. Although farmers are eager to get their seed in the ground, there’s no need to hit the panic button yet. It’s only May 9, so we’re still within the window of opportunity for good yields. The forecast for the week includes only a small chance of rain, so we should be going here again soon. We’re about 50% done with corn and only a few farmers have put beans in the ground. As we know, it’s better to keep the seed in the bag than it is to plant in unfit conditions.
When I sit down to write articles for our blog, I feel like I'm sitting down with my family at the dinner table, ready to talk about news from the field while we enjoy one of our favorite recipes. Whether you're looking for information to help you in the field, are interested in trying a farm family's favorite recipe or simply want to see what others are doing to help feed and fuel the world, we cover it here at The Field Position! Thanks for visiting us today and we hope to hear from you again soon!
